I thought that I would use this page to post some of my bulletin board ideas and pictures of bulletin boards that I have used in the past. I hope that you enjoy them!
Here are some boards that I used during the 2007-2008 school year and I just added pictures of current bulletin boards that I just put up for the 2008-2009 school year:
- Swing Into Our Room door decoration
- Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Board
- Reading Board–Bananas for Books!
- Bananas for Books close-up
- Calendar/Group Time Board
- 100th Day of School Close-up 2
- U is for United States Bulletin Board
- This was the cute DJ Inker Color Car board that I had above the sink
- This was the reading board and classroom library from my class last year
- This is the author board that we had for Open House when I taught first grade in 2006. The caterpillar was a whole class project.
- This was the door decoration from my first grade classroom in Feb. 2006
- This was the author board for Jan Brett. I made a giant mitten out of felt and placed all of my stuffed animals inside. Many of the stuffed animals are characters from books, so my students that this was just hilarious. I made this board in 2006 when I taught first grade.
- This is the winter bulletin board that I made when I taught first grade in 2006.
- This was the door decoration, and I placed students’ pictures inside of the portholes.
- We made paper plate killer whales, handprint octopi & crabs and watercolored seahorses and starfish.
- This was the view from the door from Open House 2005 when I taught first grade. Students painted their own ocean animals and we also included torn paper art fish.
- These are made from paper plates. The bottom paper plate is painted blue. Then you cut out a circle from the top board. Students glued tissue paper strips to make sea weed and stuck ocean stickers. These looked really cool!
- Ocean themed math word problems.
- Ocean reports and story summaries
- This was the door decoration. Students made handprint jaguars.
- This is the view from the Kapok tree.
- This is a close-up of the tissue paper butterflies that students made.
- This was the back board within the classroom. There were monkeys, hand/footprint birds and butterflies on display. The writing is students rain forest reports.
- This is another close-up of their rain forest reports. I typed the reports so they would be easier to read, but included the originals underneath.
- These are their jungle math story problems.
- This was our seed experiment. We placed a seed with a wet sponge inside of a Ziploc bag to see if it would grow.

I just love your website! I’m a special education teacher as well (mild to moderate) functioning about 1st grade. I’m going to do a jungle theme next year and love some of the ideas you posted. I was wondering if you could share some of the things you did with this theme.
Thanks so much : )

Hi Kallie;
I believe that this pattern is from Scholastic’s Teacher Helper monthly book series for the month of January. I hope this helps!

Just came across your website today. It is a great site. I love the people pattern in the best part of….. and your monkeys on the rainforest BB. Just wondering where do you get your patterns, do you come up with them on your own or are they from teacher resource books, if so which ones?
Thanks!

Hello!
I am a first year teacher teaching first grade this upcoming school year. I am interested in having a “themed classroom” such as under the sea, or jungle theme. Do you have any ideas that you might be able to share with me. Also how much money did you invest in your classroom your first year.
Thank you for your time,
Martha Lopez

Hi! I love your themes! You are so creative and ambitious! I am doing a jungle theme this year and want to make a tree for my room. How did you get your tree to stand up? I was going to put mine in a corner and attach it to the wall, but I want to be sure it will be strong enough. Thank you for posting your great ideas!
